In 2020, after being laid off during lockdowns,&nbsp;Didio&nbsp;started pushing the idea for Lavania&nbsp;to open his own restaurant.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/media.blogto.com\/uploads\/2022\/06\/14\/1655211360-20220613-bawara-13.jpg?w=1400&amp;cmd=resize&amp;height=2500&amp;quality=70\" alt=\"bawara toronto\">Lavania started his\u00a0journey as a chef in Mumbai where he\u00a0cooked a lot of Indian\u00a0street food. His experience expanded to new flavors and places, as he worked as a chef for the cruise ship industry traveling all over Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"bawara toronto\" src=\"https:\/\/media.blogto.com\/uploads\/2022\/06\/14\/1655211450-20220613-bawra-15.jpg?w=1400&amp;cmd=resize&amp;height=2500&amp;quality=70\">Didio and Lavania always knew they wanted to focus on Indian cuisine for the restaurant they would open up. In early 2021, they came across 1570 Bloor Street West, which had been empty for a long time.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/media.blogto.com\/uploads\/2022\/06\/14\/1655211428-20220613-bawara-14.jpg?w=1400&amp;cmd=resize&amp;height=2500&amp;quality=70\" alt=\"bawara toronto\">Before they knew it, the pair were negotiating deals to buy the building and it became home to Bawara, meaning &#8220;crazy and passionate&#8221; in Hindi.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"bawara toronto\" src=\"https:\/\/media.blogto.com\/uploads\/2022\/06\/14\/1655211576-20220613-bawara-16.jpg?w=1400&amp;cmd=resize&amp;height=2500&amp;quality=70\">The structure of the restaurant itself has not changed much from the old Tibetan restaurant that was once here. One of the perks was that the previous owners left a wok grill behind, which would end up being a great addition for cooking&nbsp;Hakka food on Bawara&#8217;s menu.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/media.blogto.com\/uploads\/2022\/06\/14\/1655211222-20220613-bawara-11.jpg?w=1400&amp;cmd=resize&amp;height=2500&amp;quality=70\" alt=\"bawara toronto\">The presentation\u00a0and diversity of\u00a0color in every dish\u00a0is what makes a dining experience here different from many classicly Indian food spots\u00a0in the city.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Be prepared to pay reasonable prices for large portions of food that taste\u00a0as someone made it for you at home.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/media.blogto.com\/uploads\/2022\/06\/13\/1655168780-20220613-bawara-2.jpg?w=1400&amp;cmd=resize&amp;height=2500&amp;quality=70\" alt=\"bawara toronto\">Kanpur Style Aloo Tikki ($11.95) is a popular Indian street food with a mix of fresh toppings.
