Brazilian Burger Bar serves hamburgers stuffed with up to 10 different toppings, the same way you’d eat them in the South American country.
In Brazil, a burger is not a burger unless it has at least a dozen toppings added to it, you can find some of them made with up to 20 different garnishes.
Brazilian Burger is emulating that same style in Toronto, bringing extravagance to their burgers for Canadians to try, while also including a few basics on their menu.
Owner Sasha Crystal says Brazilians come from all over Ontario to have a taste of home with the food they serve.
Crystal says almost all of his staff are also from Brazil, which helps to bring out authentic flavors in the burgers, snacks, and desserts on the menu.
Brazilian Burger Bar started doing takeout and delivery during lockdowns. They operate out of District 28, a mass studio and event space also owned by Crystal. They were previously called District 28 Bar Bistro, before turning into Brazilian Burger Bar.
They started gaining popularity among Toronto’s Brazilian community, when restrictions eased, people began asking for an indoor space where they could sit and eat their food.
Crystal took it upon himself to blend the event spaces of District 28 with an indoor area for the Brazilian Burger Bar.
If you’re looking to stop in for a bite, the main dining section has a wrap-around couch with a center table, along with a gorgeous mural of a woman on the adjacent wall.
Beside that is a bar-style countertop where you can choose to gather with friends instead.
There are a few shelves beside this area that hold a series of board games, you’re free to play them with your group while waiting on your food.
The coolest part about this space is the screening room, which seats close to 30 people, if you have a larger group, or you’re looking to book for an event, you can rent it out and have Brazilian Burger cater to you.
There are so many dual purposes to this space, I imagine it would be a great spot for company events, bachelor/bachelorette parties, or birthdays.
The Big Brazil Burger ($16.99) is giant, but worth the big stretch it is to eat it. Two homemade beef patties are placed between a toasted brioche bun spread with herb mayonnaise. Fried egg, beef hot dog, bacon, and potato sticks are layered inside, along with tomato and lettuce.
The Crispy Chips ($4.99) are a unique twist on the average french fries you’d find at any other burger joint. Thin sheets of potato are deep-fried, each bite you take creates a snap in your mouth.
The chips taste even better when you dip them into the herb mayonnaise. This mixture is made with cilantro, parsley, green onion, regular onion, and garlic. In Brazil, the sauce is served in little bags that people spread onto each bite of their burger.
For any vegans or vegetarians, the Single Impossible Burger ($9.99) is a good option. A vegan patty is smothered in mayonnaise, then American cheese, tomato, and lettuce get added all on top of a toasted brioche bun.
As a snack or aside, you can order the Chicken Coxinha’s ($5.99) which come in four pieces per order. They’re basically deep-fried pastries filled with shredded chicken on the inside.
After eating salty from the burgers, you may want to satisfy your sweet tooth, by ordering the Brazilian Flan ($6.99). It’s creamy and melts in your mouth with each bite. The dessert is made with condensed milk, caramel syrup, eggs, and sugar.
Brazilian Burger Bar is situated on an industrial strip surrounded by production studios, like Studio City. You can get a behind-the-scenes look at the burgers being made through the restaurant’s delivery window that faces outside.
