The fashion show returns after a rough edition from last year. This time Gran Canaria Swim Week by Moda Cálida consolidate as the only professional swimwear catwalk in Europe, which is included in the program of action in the island’s fashion textile sector, created and promoted by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Crafts of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria.
The professional swimwear catwalk has IFEMA MADRID as co-organizer of the event for the third consecutive year. The objective of this alliance is to promote the presence of the catwalk in the main international fashion circuits.
A total of 37 brands participated in this 25-anniversary special edition of the swimwear fashion event celebrated from October 21 to 24, 2021.
Chela Clo
Chela Clo is casual clothing, swimwear, cycling, and accessories brand created in 2014 by Jorge Toledo.
With two different design lines. In bathing and cycling, color and retro aesthetics reign since its first collection. Chela Clo’s line of casual clothing and accessories is more focused on daily use, which is why it is designed thinking about generating a timeless wardrobe background and manufactured with the highest quality. Thinking in this way of promoting responsible consumption of durable and sustainable garments both in labor and materials used.
In 2021 we are working so that all our garments and accessories are made with sustainable materials and processes. All cotton garments (Organic) have been certified by GOTS, Wear Fair, PETA Approved – Vega, and OEKO Tex Standard 100 since 2021 (and end of 2020).
70% of the material used to make our swimsuits are recycled Polyester. By 2023-24 we hope to be able to approach 100% sustainable production.
Chela Clo is strongly linked to cycling and its values. Not only sports but sustainable mobility. With various initiatives to promote cycling and sustainable mobility, such as various cyclist training channels (Sports or urban), we have a YouTube channel that approaches one million viewers per year, and a training podcast for cyclists with more than 100,000 listeners in almost 100 countries around the world, make Chela Clo a pioneer brand in creating training content for the cycling world.
And not least, in collaboration with the NGO Bicycles without Borders, we donate part of the sales of Chela Clo products so that children in Africa can buy bicycles so they can go to school.
Ágatha Ruiz de la Prada
Agatha Ruiz de la Prada (Madrid, 1960) studied at the School of Fashion Arts and Techniques in Barcelona. At age 20, she began working as an assistant in the Madrid studio of the couturier Pepe Rubio. A year later she already presents her first collection at the LOCAL design center in Madrid. Since then she Agatha she has walked the show and has been the guest of honor and representative of Spanish fashion on the main catwalks in the world. The designer’s creations have become a true means of artistic expression and from her first years in the world of fashion, she began to exhibit some masterpieces in galleries and museums in different cities in Europe, America, and Asia.
˝I am happy to parade this year at Moda Cálida, because I consider the organization’s decision to move forward at such a difficult time very brave. It is a heroic gesture that is greatly appreciated, an impulse towards optimism, towards life and its celebration. Fashion continues because our fantasies continue. In fact, this collection is highly fanciful, it is an escape to another dimension very different from the one we are living in, it is a dream of the beach, party, sun, and color. It may not be my most ‘wearable’ collection, that is not its intention. Someday the moment will come when I will parade a very commercial collection at Moda Cálida, but that day has not yet arrived…
Palmas
The firm was born in 1989, as a creative studio, under the name Pedro Palmas, encompassing women’s ready-to-wear, Brides, and Haute Couture. After emerging the department of business uniformity (creation of uniforms for companies)
The firm closed its doors in 2004, presenting its latest collection under the framework of the “Gran Canaria Moda Cálida” catwalk, to resume its journey in 2015,
After a decade of inactivity, in which the creator took some time to reflect, being in full swing, to resume his journey in a different way, it is therefore that the brand resurfaces again from the hand of its creator, with fresh and renewed airs in the creation, but with the essence so particular in the dress that characterized it at the time; with a change of logo, “PALMAS” continues in its eternal and feminine line; with the adherence of architecture to his designs, which mark the visionary and creative journey in the world of fashion of his designer.
PALMAS is one of the founding firms of Gran Canaria Moda Cálida, which has participated in national and international fairs, such as Espacio Cibeles, GaudiÌ, and PURE London.Costura España, London fashion week, as well as publications at regional, national and international levels, being her creations, are on the covers of different magazines in the sector, both in pret a Couture and swimwear.
At present, it incorporates to the firm, the design of feminine and masculine swimsuits, with already its third collection being marketed.
Disseminating his work in specialized magazines in the fashion sector and television programs internationally, an agency that led him to participate in exhibitions within London Fashion Week.
Different international proposals arrive at the Gran Canaria designer’s studio, between presenting his collections in different parts of the planet, from Miami and Marbella in the bathroom, and in Pret a Porter Milan; Paris; New York, London, as well as collaborations with different firms and companies to design for them.
He has the commercialization of his garments in his Studio-Atelier, as well as in different Online Sales Points, and physical, both of his Pret a Couture, Bath and perfume collections.
As an immediate project, it will present its collections in the next edition of Gran Canaria Bridal Week, as well as in Gran Canaria Swimwear fashion week, as well as the new catwalk and fair specialized in ceremonies that will celebrate its next edition in October 2022 at IFEMA-within the framework of the Mercedes Fashion Week.
